Nominated For An Eisner!

LUCHA LIBRE comics has been nominated for a 2008 "Best Humor Publication" Eisner!

The "Eisner Awards" are the "Oscars" of the Comic Book Industry. Named after comic cartooning legend Will Eisner, the Eisners are one of the more prestigious awards offered in the American Comic Book Industry. Every year at San Diego Comic Con they have a small Eisner Award ceremony. In preparation for that, the nominations have just been REVEALED. From now until the SDCC in July, Comic Professionals are given an opportunity to vote on their favorites in each category.

Based on the first two issues released in 2007, our Lucha Libre comic has been nominated for "BEST HUMOR PUBLICATION". Our competition is as follows:

Best Humor Publication
Dwight T. Albatross’s The Goon Noir, edited by Matt Dryer (Dark Horse)
Johnny Hiro, by Fred Chao (AdHouse)
Lucha Libre, by Jerry Frissen, Bill, Gobi, Fabien M., Nikola Witko, Hervé Tanquelle et al. (Image)
Perry Bible Fellowship: The Trial of Colonel Sweeto and Other Stories, by Nicholas Gurewitch (Dark Horse)
Wonton Soup, by James Stokoe (Oni)

It's a great honor to be nominated. May the "Best Humor Publication" win! :-)

Pili Pili Has Not Been Forgotten!

As can be seen in these perfect colored pages by Gobi for Lucha Libre #7 (FYI: only issues 1-3 are currently out in English), the legendary Pili Pili has not been forgotten!

Tikitis Vs. The Jetsons

Here's a retro-futuristic-sexy page by Fabien from an upcoming chapter in Tikitis. Jerry's script asked Fabien to come up with a Jetsons inspired dreamscape from the foolish mind of Doctor Sumo. As usual, Fabien took the little seeds the script gave him and grew a magical beanstalk. :-)

Tequila Drink Off by Gobi

From this point forward, every weekend will be my time to share the latest and greatest art from the super talented artists Muttpop has the pleasure to work with.

Naturally, we begin with some amazing Tequila art by Gobi. Here's an alcoholic drink off between Tequila and some Rednecks from Lucha Libre #7. Guess who wins? ;-)

(FYI, issues 1-3 are currently available in English through Image Comics. Issue 4 comes out in May. We're THAT far ahead of schedule!)
