Smoked

Here's a high res look at the "SMOKED" editions of El Panda, Red Demon, and Mini Gobi. Aren't they purty?! You can find more pics of the Smoked figures alongside the new Raw editions over at Vinyl Pulse.

Trader Joes

I usually shop for groceries at TRADER JOES. This weekend I was finally rewarded. They changed the design of their shopping bags to please all the tiki lovers like myself. Now if they could import more Belgian beers, it would be perfect.

Jaime Hernandez

I bought "Locas" by Jaime Hernandez years ago, but I didn't start reading it until the last couple of weeks. Why it took me so long to enjoy one of the greatest American Comics of all time is beyond me. "Locas" is Jaime Hernandez's contribution to the ongoing LOVE & ROCKETS comic he did with his brothers Gilbert and Mario.Although "Locas" debuted in the early 1980s, it amazes me how fresh, progressive, and beautiful Jaime's work is today. By keeping the focus on the humanity of it's wonderful cast of characters, Jaime deftly deals with complex issues of ethnicity, homosexuality, and love. Physically his women are instantly recognizable and come in a beautiful variety of shapes and sizes. He gives his women protaganists genuine personalities that feel 100% female. Here's a poor sampling of his artwork. Do yourself a favor and pick up his immmense "Locas" collection. If the size of that book is too intimidating, check out the smaller "Maggie The Mechanic" Collection.
