Newest Spirit Trailer; Starting To Look Good

The latest Spirit Posters and Trailer's have been revealled... and things are starting to shape up really nicely. The whole marketing campaign I've been following has been all kinds of crazy. At first it looked like Sin City 2. Then it was some live action Tom & Jerry cartoon. Now it's looking like a Sin City James Bond hybrid with some wacky slapstick. That I can go for.

The use of color is pretty nice. It looks to build off of what Sky Captain did... hopefully it will succeed in ways that Sky Captain failed.

As a longtime fan, I'm still rooting for Frank Miller!

Crazy Alan Moore...

If his writing wasn't so brilliant, you'd think Alan Moore was a loon. While most men's midlife crises equate to wanting a hot young dame and a sportscar... Alan Moore quit comics for a few years to explore and practice Magick by means of worshiping a snake sock puppet.

These days, he's shunned Hollywood pursuits at adapting his comics to film... so much so that he gives all the money he makes on them to his artistic collaborator. Now he's claiming that the current legal disputes over the Watchmen film may be the result over the Curse he place on the film.

You gotta love the man!

Incognito

I'm looking forward to the Incognito Comic by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips. I love what they did on both Criminal and Sleeper. I'm sure Incognito will be of the same caliber of quality. Here's a 2 page teaser that they debuted to build some hype. I can't wait for the real deal.

Daddy Shazam!

Jerry is super inspired by this Photo cover. It freaks me out because Shazam looks like my Dad! I'm sure this comic will morph into some kick ass idea in Jerry's crazy brain. I'll keep you posted...

Madman Atomic Comics 9

I thought this was a pretty cool concept. Issue 9 of Madman Atomic Comics was essentially one huge panel broken up into a full comic (I guess that's about 20 pages). It's Madman and friends fighting some weird monsters in a city. With the city buildings in the back it became very clear that each page was a continuation of one larger panel.

On Newsarama they revealed the image in it's entirety without word balloons. I wish they could have made a flash version of it that revealed the word balloons in sequence where you could click on one word balloon and the next would appear. But I'm sure that'd take to much time and effort to do.

I've been collecting Madman since it's latest incarnation debuted at Image. I've always liked the characters and love Mike Allred's art. Not too sure where Allred is taking the story but every issue is an ambitious beauty. I'm happy to go along for the ride! This nifty concept is another example of Allred trying to push the limitations of comics to it's extremes.
