The Perfect Luchadores Five Movie
When most people see the beautiful designs our artists have done for the Lucha Libre toys and comics, they immediately imagine it being the perfect fit for an animated feature film or television series. There's a distinct style to Bill, Gobi, and Fabien M's illustrations that lend themselves to 2D animation. Since all three artists are heavily inspired by the masterworks of Manga artists like Akira Toriyama and old school Capcom character designers, that inclination is a worthy one.
But, from a conceptual standpoint, we feel that the concept and characters lend themselves to the world of live action feature films. The spirit of our comics comes from the beauty of Los Angeles city, Mexican wrestling, and geekdom. As a cartoon, our characters would immediately be seen as "cool". But as real people in costume, there's an integral element of absurdity that is brought to life.
To me, the "perfect" Luchadores Five movie would be a live action adventure comedy. It'd be a fun mix of "The Warriors" and "Ghostbusters" with just a pinch of "The Big Lebowski". That'd be a heckuva a film!
Watch these previews and tell me if you can see what I'm talking about!:

I remember the PS2 game. Never played it, but I heard good things. You can also feel a heavy 'Warriors' influence on the 'No More Heroes' game on the Wii (which I've played).
Lakers Vs. Rockets game was a good one. Rockets having the ability to hang in there after that scorcher of a 1st quarter the Lakers produced was amazing.
I like what Phil Jackson is asking of Odom. He's right. Odom brings out what the LA Lakers can do best (quickness, length, finesse, fastbreaks). Relying more on Bynum would make the rhythm of the game closer to Rocket's natural speed (toughness, post-up game, 3-pointers).
The physicality of the game reminds me of the games of yesteryear. It kind of feels like Barkley and Dennis Rodman are on the court! :-) But that ejection of Ron Artest was a bunch of crap. Artest has way more sense than the League gives him credit for. He deserved a Technical Foul for approaching Kobe, but he had no intention of physically threatening Kobe. He just wanted to make it clear that Kobe can't play dirty like that against him; and rightfully so.
Rockets are a great team. Let's hope this continues being a wonderful series (and, of course, I want the Lakers to win!).
