San Francisco 1906
I found this on some discussion board yesterday. It was a high resolution photo of 1906 San Francisco post Earthquake.
Wow. I never realized the devastation that happened in San Fran during the big earthquake. I love San Francisco. I went to University in Berkeley from 1996-2000, so I have fond memories of the Bay... but seeing what SF had to be rebuilt from in less than 100 years gives me a newfound appreciation for the city and it's inhabitants.
So I don't kill your bandwith, I uploaded a smaller version of the pic with some blow ups from the photo in it's original size.

It's really crazy. The destruction is horrific... but, as you say, there's a strange beauty to it as well.

I just found the hi-res version on Wikipedia. It's so beautiful, it's nauseating. Such devastation.
