Holy Mountain

I just got this film from Netflix. I cannot wait to experience the madness of Alejandro Jodorowsky! The way Jodorowsky plays with iconography and pushes the limits of every medium he works with baffle me. As you can see from the trailer, Jodorowsky does no less when tackling the sensitive topic of religion.

Have you seen SANTA SANGRE? It's my favorite Jodorowski's movie. Totally filmed in the meanest neighborhoods of Mexico City, it's about Goyo Cárdenas, our most famous serial killer (along with Las Poquianchis). Anyway, I think that Santa Sangre is way more stylish, symbolic, fantastic, bizarre and beautiful than Holy Mountain, I mean, today, H. Mountain looks a little bit innocent and childish. Of course in its moment that movie caused a lot of misinterpretations and upset a loooot of people. As Jodorowski himself has said: "la imaginación al poder"

pfelelep:I can see the similarity. I wouldn't be surprised if Pasolini was an influence on Jodorowsky's film work.abraham:I have seen Santa Sangre. Unfortunately it was the censored version that was released in the United States. It's the first Jodorowsky film I have seen...I just hope that I can one day see the original cut of the film. From what I saw, it's a very powerful film. As a child I was traumatized by the knife throwing scene!-MPB

You should also check Jodorowsky's SON OF THE GUN an impressive comics with ideas from all his movies.

ziritt:I have the "Son Of A Gun" trades...in fact, look at the BOOK DESIGN credit...just change the "TH" to a "J"! Great series...I also love Jodo's "Metabarons" books.-MPB
