Muttpop Bob's musings and rants for all things Muttpop, toys, videogames, hip-hop, and whatever else he's thinking of.

I picked up another game for the Nintendo Wii (man, there are too many interesting games coming out this Winter!): ZACK & WIKI: QUEST FOR BARBAROS' TREASURE by Capcom. Visually it's a bit of One Piece, Pokemon, Dragonball and Anpanman....all glossed over with that wacky Capcom sensibility.Even if the visuals are pretty nifty it's the gameplay that makes it a worthy purchase. Zack & Wiki is a "Point & Click Adventure" for the Wii. You may have played one in the late 80's/early 90's on your old desktop computer. I think my first "Point & Click Adventure" experience was playing LEISURE SUIT LARRY. :-) Level solutions are very quick to accomplish but it takes a bit of thought and exploration to figure them out. It's super easy to get stuck on a level (which drives me bananas) but every solution is clever and inventively integrates motion controls with the Wiimote.I'm not sure who the intended audience is. The visuals are very kiddy (they look like they're intended for a 5-12 year old boy) but the puzzles difficulty seem more appropriate for someone older. All in all, it's nice to FINALLY see a solid Wii game that ISN'T made by Nintendo!

I have been saying since the Wii came out that someone should make an old skool point and click game for it.I think I'll definitely be buying this :D

steve fable:It's an obvious choice. I'm glad someone is giving it a shot. I want Zack & Wiki to sell really well if only to justify Wii remakes of some of the the classic PC Point & Click Adventures. I would love to play Grim Fandago on the Wii!-MPB

lol I haven't heard anyone mention Grim Fandango in years. I have wondered why nintendo took this long to realize that the wii is perfect for point and click games. Everything else so far has been sheer novelty. I would love to play grim fandango again after so long. it was such a beautiful and fun game. and if I compare the muttpop comic to it I can see why you liked the game ;)

steve fable:Yup...Grim Fandango brilliant does for Dia De Los Muertos what we're doing with Lucha Libre. It's such a loving and clever tribute! Tim Schafer and team did a brilliant job.-MPB
