Mischievous Art
Who strongly influenced Shag, Tim Biskup or Gary Baseman? Here’s the man: Jim Flora (1914-1998). He was at his acme in the 40s and 50s when he worked for jazz labels and did cover illustrations for Benny Goodman, Gene Krupa, Louis Amstrong, Sidney Bechet… In the 60s he fell in disgrace and became almost forgotten. But luckily his art is rehabilitated today .
