Ghosts and Buccaneers
Howard Pyle (1853-1911) is known for his marvelous paintings about pirates, marooners and buccaneers. He wrote and illustrated several books (MEN OF IRON, THE STORY OF KING ARTHUR AND HIS KNIGHTS,…) but it was his BOOK OF PIRATES who determinated the definitive picture of the sea robbers.
