Pan's Labyrinth
I just saw this on DVD. Man, what a powerful film. I love how much is said about gender, faith/imagination, and abuse through fairy tale. It can be enjoyed on so many levels.It's easily Guillermo Del Toro's best film...and helps me understand a lot of what Del Toro was trying to do with his previous work. But, damn...this film makes me feel awful for being a man!

agree, a beautiful movie (and music too), but those were the days for fairy stories. The "monsters" design are really interesting: fits our childhood memories but with an "adult" vision.interesting to see a movie about spanish civil war in this way.

pfelelep:The monster designs were beautiful. I thought that it was interesting that the monsters were shown in a far more beautiful manner than the military men.I agree. Awesome film! Now one of my all-time favorite. The mix between the reality and the fantastic and the way we pass through one side to the other is incredible.

This is an awesome film. I was glad I got to see it in theatre. Saw it opening weekend. Such a great story.
