The Dark Knight
I'm growing to like the new "Dark Knight" trailer. The new take on the Joker is an intriguing one...as it seems to be an Americanized version of Kakihara from the manga and movie "Ichi The Killer".I'm surprised that more people don't see the connection between Takashi Miike's "Ichi The Killer" and Batman. Ichi is obviously some geek boy version of Batman. Kakihara is the Yakuza answer to Joker. It was all a disturbing take on the Batman mythos interlaced with morbid plays on violence and otaku culture.I think it's cool and clever that Christopher Nolan and "The Dark Knight" team found a clever way to bring bits of "Ichi The Killer" back to Batman. I just hope that there isn't any Joker tongue cutting scene..."The Dark Knight Trailer"Kakihara From "Ichi The Killer"

Interesting comparison. What strikes me about Heath Ledger's Joker is that it seems like a real return to the comic book roots where the character's true identity is unknown and he's just a real man that happens to be completely insane. I like that. Not to take anything at all away from the Jack Nicholson / Tim Burton take on The Joker, but this version seems the most true to the character yet.

poondocktaint:I'm not familiar with the Bob Kane Joker...but I like what I see in the film. I've read some of the early pre-Joker Bob Kane Batmans. I've been meaning to check out the early Joker stuff...I heard it was pretty dark stuff.-MPB
