Erotic Grotesque or EroGuro is a specific Japanese genre where erotism is mixed with gory or macabre elements. It appeared in litterature, theatre, movies and manga. In this last field the major artist is Suehiro Maruo (born in 1956). Extreme sex and violence, mutilations, human oddities… Here is an online gallery of his nightmarish universe.

LE DERNIER CRI (The Last Shout) is an underground publisher based in Marseille (France). Paquito Bolino and Caroline Sury created this in the early 90's because they needed to show their work banned by all the French publishers. And they define themselves as "artists publishing other artists." They publish sublime silk-screen printed magazines like HOPITAL BRUT, comics and posters. They have worked with Charles Burns, Marc Beyer, Julie Doucet, Pierre La Police, Thomas Ott… Now, in their catalog you will find artists like Leo or the ultimate Fredox. Basil Gogos was one of these amazing painters behind the covers of FAMOUS MONSTER OF FILMLAND. I always liked the mix between his subtle technique and his "in your face" subjects. He has now a website where he's selling prints and original art. There's also a nice book about his work with an introduction by Rob Zombie.
