Transgendered Matrix
I stumbled across a really interesting ROLLING STONE article on a Discussion Board. As most of you already know, one of the Wachowski Bros. (the creators behind all 3 Matrix films) has been taking hormones to become a woman. What I didn't know was the larger than life details of the romance that ensued amidst his transgendered voyage. Larry Wachowski left his wife for a bondage queen named Ilsa and changed his name from Laurence to Laurenca. Crazier still, Ilsa left her wife/husband (a women who used hormones to become a man, but still had a vagina) named Young Buck for Larry/Laurenca.The article is a fascinating glimpse at the wilder aspects of bondage and transgender. CHECK IT OUT HERE.

Mind Control With Derren Brown
A friend recommended that I watch "Mind Control With Derren Brown" on the Sci Fi Channel. I immediately added it to my Tivo Season Pass and recently finished watching an episode of the show.Derren Brown is an English hypnotist/illusionist who's a skeptic of paranormal phenomena. The show is a weird mix of magic tricks, hypnosis acts, and attempts to show the farce behind the paranormal. It's all fascinating, but by hiding secrets to many tricks, Mr. Brown doesn't convincingly disprove the paranormal...he simply demonstrates that he, himself an atheist and skeptic, is able to successfully perform them. Here's a fun clip about voodoo dolls:

Cake's Fashion Nugget Album
I'm mostly a hip-hop guy, but occasionally there's a rock band that'll blow me a way. I'll be the first to admit that my sense of rock culture is pitiful (remember: I am a child of the 80's!). Jerry's always trying to sway me to the ways of Punk with his plethora of punk "classics"...which I can appreciate, but they never leave me frantically looking for my next "hit" of punk sonic goodness.Once in a while, I'll be exposed to a bit of Rock that I instantly "get". Cake was one of those bands. In college, I heard their smash single "The Distance" and LOVED it's perfect take on the Rock/Rap mix. When my roommate picked up the second album, "Fashion Nugget", I was pleasantly surprised that the whole album was as good if not better than that first single.Unfortunately, none of Cake's subsequent albums live up to the brilliance of "Fashion Nugget". Their first album "Motorcade of Generosity" comes close, but is hindered by some shoddy production. Here are two of the better known songs off of Fashion Nugget: "The Distance" and "Friend Is A Four Letter Word". The whole album is amazing and will always be a gem in my limited Rock collection! The DistanceFriend Is A Four Letter Word
