Bazooka

In Paris, 1974, a group of young artists created the BAZOOKA art movement. They were smoking a lot of pot, taking LSD and decided to kick some media ass! They self-published some of the most disturbing news magazines ever. Two issues of one of their magazines was forbidden to people under 18, even though a few of the artists that worked on the issues in question were minors, themselves. In 1977, they were hired by the French newspaper called LIBERATION to design the newspaper and comment on the news. Since they had complete freedom, they used the newspaper to publish very violent and graphic pictures. They also constantly fought with other journalists. In 1978, they published their own magazine, UN REGARD MODERNE, which failed after six issues of publication. Here are some samples of their amazing work.

Sazen Tange And Zatoichi

When Gobi is not doing his pages -like he should- you can be sure he's getting drunk in his favorite bar. But when the bar is closed and he's still not doing his pages, it's because he's drawing some of his favorite Japanese characters like Sazen Tange or Zatoichi.

The Overtly Phallic Ray of Dr. Pango

My friend Guy Davis (THE MARQUIS, THE NEVERMEN, BPRD, etc...) made this amazing pin up for the LUCHA LIBRE mag. He's not only one of the nicest guy in the world, he's also one of the best American comic book artist. Hum... Well... Enough with the blow job, here's the image.

The Twins From Outer Space

The Luchadores Five have two friends coming from another planet... Their names are Igor and Grichka. To design them we used pictures of Igor and Grichka Bogdanoff. These guys were famous in France in the 70's. They had a pretty cool science-fiction show on TV. After a few years their show was canceled and they disappeared for a while. They came back on TV a few years ago and they were... Well... Let's say different. The first time I saw these pictures I though they were fake but I found more of them on their own website, so I guess that's what they look like now. I included a old picture of them so you can see the difference. Also, you can see Bill's interpretation of them. Don't be afraid, they're still human after all...

Poquito Furioso

Another enemy of Tequila. Does this guy have any friend? Cheryl's ex-husband. Poquito has a HUGE chip on his shoulder regarding the significantly taller Tequila. Especially because when he lost his wife to him he also lost his cherished convertible land-shark. Art by Gobi.

The Pom Pom Ninjas

Stacy K, Stacy D, Stacy C, Stacy G, and Kimberley are the Pom Pom Ninjas. As allies of the Luchadores 5, the Pom Pom Ninjas use their graceful combination of cheerleading formations and ninjutsu combative skills to stop the criminal forces that often attack the city. This is Stacy K. by Gobi.
