Cholitas Fight Back

The indigenous women of Bolivia have begun to challenge the gender bias and stereotypes by beating male wrestlers in the wrestling ring. Their popularity has gotten the attention of National Geographic (page 112 of the September 2008 issue), the United Kingdom's Guardian, and the Witness Documentary series.

There's got to be a Lucha Libre comic story to be found in this... Jerry?

Give Me Some of That!

I want a sip of what Roux's been drinking! Mickael Roux, the artist of a Paquito Furioso strip in Lucha Libre 6, e-mailed me this wonder.

Image Comics Solicitations for November 2008 are now up at CBR.CC.

That means that we can now officially announce that our first Lucha Libre Trade Paperback will be out in November. It will collect the complete initial stories of Luchadores 5, Tequila, and Tikitis. It will also contain plenty of behind-the-scenes artwork and development material that will shows how the gears turn in the brilliant minds of the Lucha Libre team.

Lucha Libre #6 will also be released in November. Professor Furia, that vile, stinky, disgusting excuse for a human has forced us to publish a 10-page Furia story. Prepare to have your eyeballs violated! We also discover Poquito Furiosio’s younger days as a dancing disco king. And the Luchadores Five find themselves in the midst of a battle between the Surf Crew and Surf Creatures!

The infamous owner of Isotope (James Sime) kindly requested that Bill decorate one of Isotope's legendary toilet seat covers. Is it me, or does Bill look mighty happy? Must be something in the San Francisco air...

It's been a wild adventure since Bill arrived a little over a week ago. Now we're at the tail end of our West Coast Signing Tour. This will be Bill's last US signing of the year. So if you're in the Bay Area, you better be damned sure to make it!

Bill's last signing will be at San Francisco's Neon Monster Comics & Designer Toy shop from 4:00pm to 7:30pm. You'll get a free gorgeous sketch with any purchase of a Lucha Libre comic and/or Muttpop Toy.
