Catfish Deluxe
If you know Muttpop products, then you are familiar with the amazing design work of Gobi, Bill, and Mense. The 3 talented artists were our inspiration for creating Muttpop. When Jerry was showing me the amazing character designs Gobi, Bill, and Mense were doing for his various Lucha Libre comics I demanded that we find a way to make toys of those characters. As with all talented people, the 3 artists continue to grow in skill and imagination. So much so that they've decided to share some of their wild ideas via their newly dubbed site CATFISH DELUXE.
I had the pleasure of helping them out with the English on the website. It was really fun reading descriptions of the different universes... and even crazier to later see those universes realized in their beautiful illustrations. I recommend... no, I COMMAND you to check out their site! :-)

Muttpop/Heels And Zimerman Collabo
I'm excited to announce our collaboration on the Junior designer toy figurine with Heels & Zimerman, a skateboard and apparel company. H&Z asked that Gobi (character designer of Tequila and El Panda) stylize their Junior character into a form that would work in three-dimensions. To begin the process, Gobi experimented with the Junior design in a variety of styles. The online toy detectives at ToysREvil have more information and video of the real H&Z's Junior.

DesignerCon 2009
Jerry, Lea, and I had a wonderful time attending DesignerCon 2009. It was a bit rough waking up bright and early. I was pretty proud of myself for having been so prepared bringing the materials necessary for manning the Muttpop booth (calculators, notepads, con info...). Then, 5 minutes before the con opened I realized I forgot my wallet. Ahhhh! I had about $100 in $5 dollar bills in my wallet ready for delivering change to fans purchasing stuff from our booth (nope, it's NOT stripper money!). After a bit of a panic frenzy, Jerry calmly pointed out he had some cash on hand. We got change for a couple of $20 bills from the always prepared Dov Kelemer of DKE Toys and began the show. It was great seeing all of Muttpop fans and attendees. I'd love to give shout outs to pato1001, MistaHippo, Kill, William Miller, Scott Tolleson, KiLL!, Ally, thepureguava, and everyone else for stopping by!
