El Gladiator exists and he fights crime in Cincinnati. "Shadow Hare" is a 21 year old who dons a Mexican Wrestling mask and fights crime with his group of homemade-costumed companions in the streets of Cincinnati. Adventures include feeding the homeless and chasing after criminals with pepper spray and tasers. El Gladiator in our comics has a better figure, better voice, and better costume. But the spirit of "Shadow Hare" has a strong semblance to our beloved El Gladiator. Who'd a thought that Jerry Frissen and Bill were psychic? ;-)

Here are my favorite stories/pages of Profesor Furia and Luchadoritos from the upcoming Lucha Libre 7. Both series are the most stylistically distinct of the anthology. In some ways I see these two series as the bastard siblings to Lucha Libre. Profesor Furia is all about finding humor in the crudest scenarios with the most amoral individual that can be imagined. Luchadoritos is in a completely different realm. It's about childhood, a time of innocence, trivial pursuits, and boredom. Unlike Tequila, the Lucadores Five, and Tikitis, these two comic strips have more in common with newspaper comic strips than comic books. Every story is completed in 1 page strips. They both build upon the larger personalities that exist in each series.

As we near the Lucha Libre 7 release date (next Wednesday!), I wanted to show you a few of my favorite pages from Tequila. Art by Gobi. Story by Jerry Frissen.

Gobi does both his pencils/digital inks and colors. I think something really wonderful comes from having an artist handle all the art on his own. The mix of illustration and painting becomes a cohesive means of expression that a team of artists cannot replace. The only thing that isn't Gobi's on the page is the letters... and that's done by Jerry; so essentially you're looking a something that has been done by a team of two (story, letters by Jerry; art by Gobi).

Here are some sketches of Orville Hendershot, a new villain in the Tequila comics by Gobi. I guess you can call this Gobi and Jerry's attempt at making a Redneck Transformer. Nope, we are not even going to try to make a transforming toy! :-)

Jerry and I just got back from taking a few photos of Tequila 2.0 at Griffith Park. We'll be leaking those out over the coming weeks as we prepare for the new Tequila's eminent release. Do you notice anything different?

The amazingly talented Romuald Reutimann first joined the Lucha Libre art team with a couple of Mock Cover Pin-Ups. That quickly led to EL JEFE GASTRONIMO (in Lucha Libre #8) his first comic collaboration with Jerry Frissen. In between juggling many amazing comic projects like Cite 14 and taking over on Luchadoritos (as of Lucha Libre #9), Romuald LOVES to tempt us with Lucha Libre illos like those seen below.
