Honda Domino Effect
Here's a cool commercial that my Mom forwarded me an e-mail about. My mom isn't a very tech savvy person, so the fact that she showed it to me may suggest that this thing's been around forever and I'm the last dude on the planet to hear about it. Either way it's super cool.Rumor has it (and I haven't confirmed it so don't kill me if I'm wrong) that everything in the commercial is real. No computer effects were used. What you see is a domino of car parts from 2 disassembled Honda accords. It took the team involved 600+ takes to have it work perfectly. The total cost of the commercial was $6,000,000.Don't know how true it is, but I love it! Since my days as a toddler I loved domino style inventions. That's partly why I love Goonies, Pee Wee's Big Adventure, and Wallace and Gromit!

Iron Man Mach 1 Armor
As is usual with Comicon, most of my pop culture discoveries happened at home visiting websites upon returning from the Con. There's so much to take in at the Convention that it's impossible to discover all the new developments while you are there. My favorite discovery is the design for the "Mach 1" version of the Iron Man armor from the upcoming feature film. It's the first version of Iron Man's armor (one of many that will be revealed in the film) inspired by the original Jack Kirby design. Call me crazy, but this blows away all the designs for the Transformers movie. So far IRON MAN has a great cast and some wonderful design choices. Hopefully they will result in a decent superhero flick.

SPV
I found this wonder at the San Diego Comic-Con. It's the SPV, the SPECTRUM PURSUIT VEHICLE taken from Gerry Anderson's CAPTAIN SCARLET. It's a part of a diecast metal collection based on Gerry Anderson's creations. It's produced by a British company called PRODUCT ENTERPRISE LTD.

Room 401: Lend Me A Hand
MTV'S ROOM 401 is attempting to fill the TV void left by SCARE TACTICS. Yeah, the host is pretty lame...but the premises of the first 2 episodes have been rock solid. I just wish they'd reveal how these neat tricks are pulled off. Here's my favorite from the first episode:

BUD Series 2 Chase: Tequila
We were sworn to secrecy, but since DKE Toys is showing it off at their SDCC booth I think we're okay revealing our second secret! A Tequila Bomb BUD designed by Gobi and Jerry Frissen will be one of 2 chase figures in JAMUNGO's BUD Series 2 figure line. Even in this smaller size, Tequila's bound to be one tough dude.

Mini Kozik
The big San Diego Comicon is coming up. Don't know exactly how, but for some reason this event filled with Marvel and DC superheroes has become THE event for the Designer Toy scene. Actually it's kind of become THE event for all things pop culture.I'm looking forward to it...even though, I'm sure I'll be hearing Jerry rant about how "ashamed" he feels to be there. ;-)We'll do our best to post during our time in SDCC, but NO GUARANTEES.We'll be in San Diego on Thursday and Friday. Feel free to stop by at the DKE Toys booth on Friday from 12-1pm to say hello to me and Jerry.Until next time, here's our first little secret: Mini Kozik. Sculpt is done. I can't wait to see what colorways Frank Kozik comes up with. It's a collaboration between Kozik and Fabien.
