Ledy Ledy Muttpop Interview
I just discovered the video of the interview we did with Ledy Ledy during our time in Tijuana back in October 2007.
I talk too much. Jerry masters the art of looking tough. And Ledy Ledy made one kick ass intro graphic!

Ledy Ledy
It was with great pleasure that we met the Mexico-based LEDY LEDY crew at the Esquina Norte Design Conference a couple weeks ago. They are currently hard at work on a line of vinyl figures that will be developed entirely in Mexico. Ledy Ledy is:MR. KONE is an illustrator based in Mexico City whose done tons of work for a variety of Mexican Magazines and publications. His blog is filled with work that demonstrates his great range of artistic style.ZOVECK'S whimsical art is both familiar and fantastic...like that wonderful dream you can't quite remember. His San-Tos statue is one of Jerry's favorite pieces, EVER!ROBOT SODA'S Arenas illustration has a crisp modern style that finds inspiration in classical animation. He's the only guy I've met whose adoration for retro Anime robot design and Tezuka surpasses my own.ESCOBAS is Mexican Wrestling's Ed Hardy. He's reinterpreting the iconography of Lucha Libre through a variety of fashion-based products and new Luchadores mask designs.Mr. Kone, Escobas, Jerry, Zoveck, Arenas, MPBUpcoming Ledy Ledy VinylMr. KoneZoveckArenas (Robot Soda)EscobasJerry, Mr. ? Our US Return
The Conference was over. It was time for the Muttpop crew's return to the good ol' US of A. All of the Conference Lecturers were given a King's feast of at La Puerta Nueva. But since we crossed the border by foot, we had to bail prior to the succulent feast to ensure our prompt return. While others feasted on lobster tails and frejoles, Jerry and I waited in a long line with people hoping to cross the border. An hour later, we said "Hello" to the US Border Patrol and were walking back to my car with a box full of goodies.Bye Tijuana. We're sure to meet again!

Custom Toy Workshop
On the final day of the Esquina Norte Tijuana Design Conference, Jerry and I ran a Custom Toy Workshop. Over the course of 4 hours we walked participants through the process of custom toy design using Jamungo's Sqwert as our platform. The students amazed us with the amount of passion and enjoyment they approached their work. The gorgeous results can be seen below:"Dualidad" by Amaranta Delgado"Sloppy" by Claudia Castro"Soladito Black Warrior" by Martha Garayzar"Chaca" by Cristian A. Rodriguez Valadez"Bloohoo" by Gerardo Najar Haro"La Virgen Luchador" by Xtian Rosas Alvarez"Pancho Nopal" by Josefina Aguilera Albarran

Ricardo
So Jerry and I were chillin' in our room yesterday preparing for our lecture when something weird happened. We were both online using the hotel's wireless internet connection. I was using my Mac laptop's Iphoto program when, "pop", all of a sudden I see that I now have access to all of Ricardo's Iphoto pictures. Jerry didn't believe what I was saying so he immediately opened his Iphoto...and what do you know, he had access to Ricardo's pics as well.By sheer coincidence we left the hotel at the very same instance that Ricardo and his airline team did. Jerry was sure to take a few photos of our new best friend! What's the lesson of the day? Making your Iphotos library "public" isn't the brightest idea...

The Lecture
I was pretty stoked and nervous about giving a talk today with Jerry. I was a bit nervous at first, but I'm happy to say that the lecture went pretty well. The attendees were super supportive of our work and really appreciated our take of Lucha Libre. We've met some wonderful people out here. Thanks to Mr. Kone for his AMAZING print, Escobar for the beautiful mask, Zovek for his gorgeous Santo statue, and Ledy Ledy for the stylish shirt! We met some amazing artists in Mexico. More on them soon.
